Sharing Knowledge and Empowering Others

During the outreach event, LWAU staff members gathered with a group of lymphedema patients. Visual aids and photographs, showing Kushaba Lawin’s progress and the steps she took to manage her condition effectively. The pictures depicted Lawin’s journey—her struggles, her strategies, and her triumphs.

With genuine compassion and empathy, the staff explained the self-care management program, detailing each step. They emphasized the importance of maintaining good hygiene, regular exercise, and the use of compression garments. They also addressed the challenges that come with limited access to clean water and healthcare, offering practical solutions tailored to the community’s needs.

A Moment of Transformation

As the patients in Busiriba Sub-county viewed the pictures and listened to Kushaba Lawin’s story, a palpable shift occurred. Faces that had been marked by despair began to light up with hope. The realization that someone who once shared their struggles had overcome them and was now leading a fulfilling life brought renewed energy and optimism to them.
