We were honored to welcome Hon. Eng. Cuthbert Abigaba, the esteemed Member of Parliament for Kibale County, Kamwenge District, to our offices in Wakiso Nsangi Kyengera – Mugongo. His visit was a significant moment for the Lymphedema Warriors Association Uganda, highlighting the importance of our mission and the impact of our work in addressing lymphedema (Podoconiosis) in Uganda.

During his visit, Hon. Eng. Abigaba met with our founder, Lawin Kushaba, and the dedicated staff members who tirelessly work to support individuals affected by lymphedema. This meeting was a follow-up to our recent assessment in Kibale County, where we evaluated the needs of lymphedema victims and laid the groundwork for our upcoming medical camp scheduled for September 16th to 19th, 2024.

Hon. Eng. Abigaba’s visit to our offices was more than a formal courtesy; it was a powerful endorsement of our cause. He expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts of the Lymphedema Warriors Association in tackling this often-overlooked condition and pledged his full support. His commitment is a testament to the growing recognition of the critical need for awareness, treatment, and long-term management of lymphedema in Uganda.

“We are committed to supporting the Lymphedema Warriors Association Uganda in their noble work,” Hon. Eng. Abigaba stated. “The upcoming medical camp in Kibale County is a crucial initiative that will bring much-needed medical care and awareness to our community. I am proud to be associated with such a dedicated team, and I pledge my full support to ensure the success of their endeavors.”

This pledge of support from Hon. Eng. Abigaba is a significant boost to our efforts, providing both moral and potential logistical backing that will enhance our ability to serve the affected communities more effectively. His involvement underscores the importance of collaborative efforts between governmental representatives and non-governmental organizations to address health challenges in our country.
